SAT II: Subject Test
The SAT II tests measure students’ knowledge or skills in a particular subject and their ability to apply that knowledge.
Literature SAT II (Grades 11, 12)
This test measures the ability to express ideas effectively in standard written English.
Topics covered: identifying sentence errors, improving sentences, improving paragraphs, and providing sample essays.
Mathematics Level IC / IIC (Grades 11, 12)
Level IC is intended for students who have taken three years of college-preparatory mathematics (two years of algebra and a year of geometry). Use of scientific / graphing calculators are permitted.
Level IIC is intended for students who have taken college-preparatory mathematics for more than three years (two years of algebra, a year of geometry, and pre-calculus). Use of scientific / graphing calculators are permitted and often required.
Topics covered: algebra, geometry, basic trigonometry, algebraic functions, elementary statistics, data interpretation, measures of central tendency and other miscellaneous topics.
Biology SAT II (Grades 9, 10)
Topics covered: cellular and molecular biology, ecology, classical genetics, organismal biology, evolution and diversity.
Chemistry SAT II (Grades 10, 11)
Topics covered: atomic and molecular structure, states of matter, reaction types, stoichiometry, equilibrium and reaction, thermodynamics, descriptive chemistry, laboratory , balancing equations and predicting products of chemical reactions.
Physics SAT II (Grades 11, 12)
Topics covered: mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, heat, kinetic theory, thermodynamics, modern physics, measurement, math skills, and history of physics.
